Abacuses

Abacuses
- Number one abacus production in Japan: Ono
- Production dates back to when Toyotomi Hideyoshi captured Miki Castle in 1580, and local residents who fled to Omi learned how to make Otsu abacus, then returned home and began manufacturing them in the Miki and Ono areas. They are made by hand using carefully selected materials by traditional craftsmen and other makers who have inherited advanced traditional techniques and have attracted attention not only in Japan but also overseas, where they have been well received, especially in the United States and Southeast Asia.
